Project Funding

Short Description:
Funding for one-time projects that strengthen official-language minority communities, address current issues, and encourage innovation and community development.

Program Overview:
The Project Funding stream supports one-time activities that do not require ongoing funding. Priority is given to projects that address current issues, demonstrate innovation, and contribute to the development of areas that are unique or unexplored.

Consideration is also given to projects that align with the Government of Canada's Official Languages mandate and contribute to reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. Projects should support the objectives of the Development of Official-Language Communities program.

Eligible Applicants:

• Canadian non-profit organizations, duly registered
• Canadian associations, institutions and foundations
• Canadian for-profit organizations, for non-profit activities only
• A government entity, only when it is the only organization able to manage a school community centre

Eligible organizations must represent the interests of official-language minority communities. Their mission, mandate or majority of activities must support the development and enhancement of official-language minority communities at the national, provincial, regional or local level.

Ineligible Applicants:

• Individuals
• Government organizations, except where they are the only organization able to manage a school community centre
• Universities
• Schools
• School boards
• Foreign institutions and organizations

Eligible Projects:
One-time activities that:

• Support the development and enhancement of official-language minority communities
• Address current community issues
• Encourage innovation and excellence
• Develop unique or unexplored areas
• Align with the Official Languages mandate
• May contribute to reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples

Application Process:
Project funding applications may involve a two-step process depending on the region.

For Nova Scotia and other Atlantic provinces, applicants must:

1. Contact the regional office to request a Letter of Intent form.
2. Complete and submit the Letter of Intent by email.
3. If invited, complete and submit the full funding application and required documentation.

Application Deadlines:
For regional project funding in Nova Scotia:

• Letter of Intent: September 1
• Funding application: November 15
