The Resilient Communities Through FireSmart (RCF) Program provides funding to help Nova Scotia municipalities strengthen wildfire prevention and mitigation efforts. As part of a federal-provincial initiative, the program supports community capacity building, governance, training, and FireSmart projects that reduce wildfire risk and improve community resilience.
Eligible Projects
Projects must support wildfire prevention and mitigation and align with FireSmart objectives. Examples include:
Community wildfire risk reduction initiatives
Capacity-building activities
FireSmart governance and planning
Training and professional development
Community education and engagement
Data collection and wildfire risk analysis
Development of wildfire prevention tools and resources
New or expanded FireSmart initiatives
Eligible Expenses
Funding may be used for:
Salaries, benefits and stipends
Professional, scientific and technical services
Consulting and contracting services
Printing and translation
Travel, meals and accommodations (National Joint Council rates)
Training and professional development
Working groups and facility rentals
Evaluation activities
Conference fees
Materials, supplies and equipment related to wildfire risk management
