The Canada Post Community Foundation provides funding for projects that make a difference in the lives of children and youth up to age 21. For municipalities, funding is available through two project-based grant streams: Small Project Grants of up to $5,000 and Project Grants of $5,001 to $25,000.

Eligible projects should increase organizational capacity and create or expand services rather than maintain existing services. Examples include playground equipment, park upgrades, library supplies, after-school programs, new equipment and new or expanded programs.

Eligible applicants:

• Small municipalities with 5,000 residents or fewer

Other eligible organizations vary by grant stream and include schools, school/parent organizations, community libraries, daycares, Indigenous groups, recreation facilities, registered charities, registered non-profit organizations and registered Canadian amateur athletic associations.

Eligible activities/projects:

• Playground equipment
• Park upgrades
• Library supplies
• After-school programs
• New equipment
• New or expanded community programs
• Projects that increase the organization’s capacity to provide services to children and youth

Ineligible activities:

• Professional or amateur sports teams
• Activities outside Canada
• Debt reduction campaigns
• Mailing, shipping or delivery fees
• Lobby, advocacy or partisan groups
• Fundraising events such as golf tournaments, galas, runs or races
• Brand or general advertising
• Financial assistance for individuals
• Conventions, conferences or events
• Ongoing operating costs
• Standard classroom supplies
• Professional development

Financial documentation:
Financial documentation is required for all applications.

• $5,001–$15,000: Notice to Reader or Compilation Engagement, or an independently audited financial statement
• $15,001–$25,000: Review Engagement Report, or a Notice to Reader, Compilation Engagement or an independently audited financial statement
