Description

The Commemorative Partnership Program provides funding to organizations undertaking remembrance initiatives that honour those who served Canada in times of war, military conflict and peace since Confederation (1867).

In 2026, Veterans Affairs Canada will highlight the service of the Canadian Armed Forces in the Middle East. Projects that are related, but not limited to, this focus may be supported through existing funding streams, provided they meet eligibility requirements.

Community War Memorial Funding:

Supports the restoration of community war memorials. Priority is given to expenditures related to the structure, accessibility and safety of memorial sites. War memorial projects require bilingual inscriptions for new construction and must demonstrate ownership and arrangements for ongoing maintenance.

Project Requirements:

  • Must commemorate the achievements and sacrifices of those who served Canada post-Confederation (1867)
  • Finite duration with clear start and end dates
  • Cannot duplicate VAC commemorative initiatives
  • Cannot be dedicated solely to an individual
  • Cannot be completed before application submission
  • Must demonstrate organizational capacity to deliver the project

Eligible Expenditures:

Professional fees, administrative costs, equipment and machinery rental, travel costs, salaries/wages, design or assessment fees, monument relocation costs when warranted, and construction expenditures.

Ineligible Expenditures:

International air travel, land or building purchases, operational/fundraising costs, book publishing, documentary production, insurance, landscaping for enhancement purposes (war memorials), and projects on federal land (except Reserves).
