The Disability Benefits Navigation Program funds not-for-profit organizations to expand or enhance existing services that help persons with disabilities and their families access disability benefits. This includes the Disability Tax Credit, Canada Disability Benefit, and other federal, provincial and territorial disability benefits.

The program focuses on individuals who may be eligible for benefits but are underserved, disconnected from services, or face complex or intersecting barriers to access.

Eligible Activities

Projects must include:

• Individualized support: Free, accessible and inclusive one-on-one disability benefits navigation, delivered virtually or in person, targeting individuals with complex needs or intersecting barriers.
• Community partnerships: Partnerships and referral networks with community organizations to expand reach and connect people to navigation services.
• Community of Practice: Monthly collaboration and information sharing with organizations funded through this call.

Additional activities may include workshops, information sessions, community visits, pop-up information booths, webinars, newsletters, brochures and social media campaigns.

Eligible Costs

Eligible costs include salaries and benefits directly related to navigation services; professional services; translation and accessibility accommodations; materials and supplies; rent related to expanded navigation capacity; staff training; communications; evaluation; data collection and analysis; and travel within Canada.

Ineligible Costs

The program does not fund the establishment of new navigation services, research activities, centralized online hubs or portals, general organizational operations, medical or disability-related assessments and documentation costs, real property, international travel, or costs incurred before an agreement is approved and signed.
