The Build Communities Strong Fund Direct Delivery stream will provide $6 billion over 10 years beginning in 2026–27 to support regionally significant infrastructure, climate adaptation, and community infrastructure projects. The program focuses on shovel-ready projects that strengthen community resilience, support sustainable economic development, and improve environmental and social outcomes. Eligible recipients include municipalities, provinces and territories, Indigenous communities, not-for-profit organizations, and private-sector entities working with eligible public-sector partners.

• Support regionally significant infrastructure projects across Canada.
• Strengthen community resilience and climate adaptation capacity.
• Support sustainable economic development and community growth.
• Enhance environmental outcomes and public infrastructure renewal.
• Improve cultural and social vitality within communities and regions.
• Accelerate infrastructure delivery through shovel-ready projects.

Program Requirements:

• Projects that are ready to start in 2026 with Class C estimates at a minimum (supporting document is required when available).
• For Indigenous and territorial projects, consideration will also be given to projects that will be shovel-ready in 2027.
• Projects must be eligible under a project category outlined above.
• Projects must demonstrate that they have secured all sources of funding required for the project (other than federal funding requested through the BCSF).
• Projects that have already started construction are not eligible; however, applications for new and distinct phases of such projects may be eligible.
• Project proponents should provide, through the portal, letters of support from the community and/or organizations impacted by the project, including public consultation records.
