Description

Time-limited funding to support citizen-focused and research activities that help counter online disinformation and harmful content. The program aims to strengthen democracy and social inclusion by boosting digital and media literacy, resilience against disinformation and understanding of Canada’s information ecosystem.

Priorities:

  • Research or resources addressing disinformation in diasporic, Indigenous or non‑official language communities, especially led by or in partnership with those communities.
  • Engaging secondary or post‑secondary students in fact‑checking activities to support media through pre‑bunking or debunking.
  • Developing frameworks to estimate economic costs of online disinformation in Canada.
  • Creating interventions to engage Canadian influencers and content creators on civic and digital media literacy.
