Canada Summer Jobs is a program under the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) that provides wage subsidies to support employers in creating quality summer employment opportunities for youth. The program aims to help youth develop skills and gain paid work experience to successfully transition into the labour market.
The Government of Canada ensures that all CSJ-funded job opportunities take place in a safe, inclusive and healthy work environment free from harassment and discrimination.
Program Objectives:
Eligible Employers:
Not-for-profit organizations: Community, charitable or voluntary organizations (including faith-based organizations), associations, Indigenous not-for-profit organizations, non-governmental organizations, unions, sector councils and not-for-profit Band Councils
Public sector organizations: Municipal governments and agencies, school boards, public educational institutions, public health institutions, public libraries, territorial governments and other publicly funded organizations (organizations where 50%+ of operating revenue comes from government appropriations)
Private sector organizations: Must have 50 or fewer full-time employees across Canada at time of application (full-time = 30+ hours per week). Includes sole proprietorships, partnerships, incorporated bodies, financial institutions, franchise operators, Indian Band corporations, private Band Councils and private universities/colleges

Job Requirements:
Mandatory Requirements (15 Eligibility Criteria):
Organizations must meet all 15 requirements including: application submitted before deadline, complete application, eligible employer and activities, appropriate job duration and hours, health and safety practices, harassment-free hiring practices and work environment, supervision and mentoring plans, and satisfactory past results with the Department.
