The OHPR Community Fund provides funding for community-led initiatives that help recruit, welcome, and retain healthcare professionals across Nova Scotia.
Objectives
Support local healthcare recruitment and retention efforts.
Reduce social and cultural barriers for healthcare professionals.
Create welcoming and inclusive communities.
Improve settlement and integration supports for new healthcare professionals, particularly internationally educated healthcare professionals (IEHPs).
Eligible Projects
Community recruitment and retention initiatives.
Welcome and orientation programs.
Settlement supports such as housing, transportation, childcare, schooling, and community connections.
Activities that strengthen social and cultural inclusion for healthcare professionals.
Ineligible Expenses
Staff salaries are not eligible.
Administrative costs cannot exceed 15% of the funding request.
Expenses incurred before project approval are not eligible.
Successful recipients must submit progress reports, financial reports, and a final report within 60 days of project completion.
Eligibility Requirements
Be a registered eligible organization located in Nova Scotia.
Demonstrate collaboration with community partners.
Show how the project complements existing healthcare recruitment and retention efforts.
Engage equity-deserving groups in project planning where appropriate.
Secure matching funding from the applicant or other sources, as OHPR funds only a portion of project costs.
