The Nova Scotia Amateur Sport Fund (Community Sport Fund) supports community sport organizations across the province through six regional Sport Consultants. The fund is a collaboration between Sport Nova Scotia, Government of Nova Scotia, Sport Canada, Support4Sport and Canada Games Legacy Fund.
The goal of the fund is to support quality, sustainable programming by providing funds to help organizations create new programs or expand and enhance current programs to provide more opportunities for Nova Scotians to participate in sport.
What the Fund Supports:
Increase sustainable quality sport participation (new programming or expansion of existing programs)
Increase Long Term Development in Sport and Physical Activity alignment
Host coaching seminars or conferences that will positively impact coaching quality in Nova Scotia (non-NCCP specific)
Support diverse populations participation in quality sport opportunities
Eligible Projects:
Equipment purchases aligned with quality sport programming
Program development aligned with quality sport standards
Field of play resources
Leadership/Professional development (non-NCCP specific)
Ineligible Projects:
General operating costs (insurance, heating, salaries)
Equipment renewals (considered operational)
Registration/organization membership fees
Uniforms
Team or individual travel (including championships)
Events (hosting competitive tournaments or meets)
Capital expenditures (field repairs, court resurfacing, storage facilities, etc.)
Application Process Requirements:
Applicants must contact Regional Sport Consultant minimum 2 weeks before deadline to determine eligibility and set up funding portal account
Applications must be started minimum 6 weeks before initiative start date
Initiatives must be completed and reported within 12-month period from awarded funding date
Sport Fund does not consider retroactive assistance
80% of approved funding released upon receipt of signed terms and conditions; final 20% issued upon completion of final report
Important Notes:
Six intake periods per year (bi-monthly) on the following firm deadlines: April 15, June 15, August 15, October 15, December 15, and February 15. Deadlines are firm regardless of weekends or holidays.
Schools and educational institutions are not directly funded. All applicants must be located and delivering sport within Nova Scotia.
